Issuance Authority: IE Code issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India.
Custom & Banks Requirement: IE Code requires to quote with customs authorities/banks for importing & exporting goods and making or receiving payment to/from international vendors
No Renewal: IEC Registration is valid for a life time, therefore no hassle updating, filing, and renewal.
No Return Filing: Unlike tax registrations like GST registration or PF registration, the importer or exporter does not require to file any filings or follow any other requirement like annual filing.

Why you need IEC Registration?
Import Export (IE) Code is the first registration which is required for when you enter into the business of importing and exporting goods and services in and from India. Importers are not allowed to proceed without this code and exporters can’t take benefit of exports from DGFT, customs, Export Promotion Council, if they don’t have this code.
